My Front Cover
My magazine and both Kerrang! and Rocksound all appeal to a similar target audience doe to the magazines covering the same genre of music, which is rock type music. The style of my magazine was influenced by both Kerrang! and Rocksound magazines, this can be seen by the house style of my magazine all the mgagazines follow a similar house style throughout the products. The colous used throughout are mainly black and white with both red and yellow being used to great effect too. When creating my own product I took this into account and chose black, white and red as my house style colours. When looking at my example products, they follow a similar style as they are very basic in terms of little sell lines and a big bold title. I decided to incorporate the little amount of sell lines into my products as I felt that since my magazine is more indiependent as it only focuses on a niche target audience, the main model would be the main focal and selling point with sell lines used to help build on this. For the photography, the pose was vital in drawing attention to the magazine itself therefore I decided that a close-up shot would work really well in doing this as it helps the audience identify with the model. Therefore, I took a great deal amount of inspiration from both Kerrang! and Rocksound and feel that in doing so would help generate stereotypes in my magazine in which the audience can associate themselves with.

When looking at the contents pages, you can see some similarities with both Kerrang! and Rocksound as they both seem dimilar in their layout. The structure of each page is similar with a great deal of text with a variety of pictures used to help promote the content included in the magazine. The contents page itself follows the three colour palette rule similar to the front cover, this helps represent continuity throughout the products. The text used on the contents page has been categorised into sections, therefore acting like a directory for the magazine which is the sole purpose of the contents page. When creating my own contents page, I decided to also categorise the content into sections to help make my product clean, organised and professional by conforming to the norms of the actual professional magazines. Also, I felt that for a contents page it needed to be simple, appealing and basic. Therefore, I didn't want to include an excessive amount of text or pictures onto my contents page as the sole purpose of the contents page is to direct the audience to the information they require. I wanted something distinctive to the other professional products, and I've felt that I have done this.
Kerrang! Double Page Spread
When looking at my double page spread in comparison to my exemplar products, you can see my product is very much similar to both Kerrang! and Rocksound. The colours used follow the three colour palette rule which continues with the layout of both the front cover and contents page and they all work together to help create an organised and professional product. The colours used in my example products include black, white and red (Kerrang!) and blue, yellow and white (Rocksound). Also looking at the actual professional products, the photography plays a much more important role than the text as the text is limited and located on the right page with the main image positioned on the left, signifying dominance. When creating my double page spread, I decided the main image must be located on the left page to help connote the forms and conventions of the genre my magazine represents. I also wanted to challenge the use of text on the double page spread by having the majoirty of the right page full of text, I did this to distance my magazine from the other professional products by making mine unique and distinctive in comparison. I also included a tour list and an album review as I felt that having just a plain interview article on the double page spread would look basic and less appealing than having other texts featured ont eh double page spread. I also included a teaser qoute from the article to help entice the audience into reading the article and make it much more appealing.
